A Packed protest meeting about moves to cut wardens in sheltered housing complex heard that councillors could not "defend the indefensible".
The meeting of angry residentrs and their families in Saltcoats Town Hall heard from councillors both for and against the cuts.
Cllr Peter McNamara, who was the only one of 16 councillors who voted for the removal of the wardens to attend the meeting, was given a grilling by outraged members of the public.
