THE OWNER of a dog mauled in a Saltcoats street has spoken of her family's devastation at the loss of their beloved pet.

Lynsey, 25, has expressed her disgust at how the owner of the bulldog wouldn’t have the dog put down.

She said: “I am disgusted to read in the newspapers that the owner of this vicious dog refuses to get it put down. I had no choice of the death of my dog so why should he? A dog of this size and strength should be harnessed and muzzled in public places and it is evident that the owner could not control this situation or prevent it from happening. Toby was a precious pet to me and it is hurtful to think that he has been taken away in this manner after caring for him for so long.”

Lynsey and her family are all devastated by the loss of their pet especially her dad who was with Toby on his way to the beach for a walk when it happened.
