CANOE DRAMA

A 15-year-old boy had a lucky escape thanks to his pal - after his canoe capsized in the sea last Saturday afternoon.

The Ardrossan Sea Cadet decided to take the group's canoe out on Saturday, June 21. But after being in the sea for around half an hour it started taking in water and he had to swim 20 metres to safety.

He explained: "I had paddled out towards Inches, the island behind Princess Street in Ardrossan and after half an hour the canoe capsized."
