The crowds were out in their droves last weekend when the ever popular Whitlees Gala took place and new Queen Hannah Jackson received her crown.

Despite the several different groups who were on hand to provide the entertainment, the star of the day was councillor Peter McNamara who agreed to take part in the throwing of wet sponges - but he was on the receiving end!

MSP Kenneth Gibson and MP Katy Clark were first in the queue to try it out and MSP Gibson was certainly triumphant, soaking councillor McNamara no less than twice!
