ITALY will be marching along to some genuine Scottish bagpipes this summer while the Caledonian Piping Band are touring the country.

The tour of Italy came after the band were offered the opportunity to play at the Bejing Olympics.

Sadly the offical conformation to perform at the Olympics arrived too late and the band had to decline the offer due to time constraints.

Pipe Band Major Gerard McClumpha of Saltcoats explains: "As you may imagine, not only was my group disappointed at not playing at the Olympics but now had no foreign trip to look forward to either."
