SAINSBURY'S ON THE WAY
By Fiona Simpson
Saltcoats supermarket closes to make way for area’s first ever Sainsbury’s
NORTH Ayrshire received some double good news this week as it emerged that Sainsbury's are to open their first west coast store in Saltcoats.
And fears over possible job losses at the supermarket site, which closes as a Somerfield this Saturday, have also proved unfounded.
The supermarket on Hamilton Street will be temporarily closing after Sainsbury’s bought over the shop prior to the Co-op takeover of the Somerfield chain.
The buy-out happened on June 30 for an undisclosed amount but will leave the store closed for a number of weeks as it is refitted.
