Print Article
A £130K PROJECT to build a covered walkway linking the rail station and ferry passenger terminal has been approved this week.
Ronnie Small, head of service infrastructure and design services at North Ayrshire Council, said: "The proposed covered walkway will protect passengers from the worst of the elements. This has been a regular source of complaint from Arran ferry users."
The walkway will be 115m long, and steel-framed with a curved roof. It will be glazed with 1cm-thick safety glass on the side of the prevailing wind, with lighting installed throughout.
