LAST week the Herald reported that overgrown weeds were flourishing around Ardrossan - and this week several readers have contacted us about the overgrown state of Saltcoats.

One reader , Stephen McCreadie, 75, has had problems with extensively overgrown weeds outside his home on Parkend Terrace, Saltcoats.

And told the Herald: "There are weeds around 15-18 inches high outside my house.

"The weeds pictured in the Herald last week are nothing in comparison to these and it is extremely disappointing to see."
