FIRE CREW ATTACK IN SALTCOATS

A FEMALE firefighter ended up in hospital with glass in her eye after a brick was lobbed at her crew as they attended a fire in Saltcoats.
The Ardrossan fire crew were at an incident in Pladda Road on Tuesday night when a missile smashed through the fire appliance cab, injuring the 19-year-old firefighter.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "A brick was thrown at the appliance and smashed through the rear window.
"As a result a 19-year-old female retained firefighter was sprayed in the face and a piece of glass went into her eye. An ambulance was called and she was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment."
