The police this week issued an alert for people in Beith and revealed that an opportunistic criminal or criminals has been targeting the homes of older people in the town.
On November 12 at about 4am a disabled older lady in Beith’s Auldlea Road, who had left her door unlocked, disturbed an intruder in her home.
The man escaped, however.
At about 10.55am on November 13 an 85-year-old lady in the town’s Chestnut Avenue also reported that someone tried to sneak into her home when her front door was also left unlocked.
