RESIDENTS in Saltcoats may not be alone as one Ardrossan man captured what looks like a ghost on his camera on Monday night.

David Kerr, 44, had been driving home from work at 5.30pm when he decided to stop at Saltcoats shore front and take a picture of the sun-setting. However he was shocked when he discovered a strange object in his picture.

David explained: “I’m trying to train to be a professional photographer so when I saw the sunset at the beach I thought that would be a nice image to try capture. I took one in front of the wall but I wasn’t happy with the red glow so moved further back and managed to capture this strange object. I rushed home immediately to get a closer look.”

And when he looked at it on his computer he could clearly see the outline of a man. “There is no doubt in my mind that there is something there,” David said.

“I don’t believe in ghosts at all but when I showed it to my girlfriend the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and the more I look at it the more I am convinced that I see a man sitting down on the grass looking out to sea. It is extraordinary.”

Not wanting to jump to conclusions, David took his digital camera to Prestige Photography for a second opinion and he too thought he could see a man in the picture.

Robert Kelly, owner of Prestige Photography in Saltcoats said: “I have been in the professional photography industry for over 20 years now and I have never seen anything like this before. I am not really sure what it is to be honest but it looks like a mermaid or seeing it for the second time it could be a soldier because you can sort of see his beret.

“I would definitely say that there is no dirt or shadowing on the picture and no reasonable explanation.”

If anyone else has seen any sightings of ghosts in the area or has any explanation for the strange object contact the Herald on 01204-464321.
