AN eagle-eyed reader has sighted another UFO flying high in the sky above the Saltcoats coastline.

On April 27 we were inundated with calls about a strange orange glow in the sky between Saltcoats and Arran. Some residents believed that it was a UFO, while others thought it was a Chinese Lantern, a special firework. And on Tuesday, December 23 another reader spotted the same orange light in the sky.

He explain: 'I was driving past Arran View Care Home in Saltcoats at around 7.30pm when I spotted the light in the sky. I pulled in for a closer look and at first I thought that it was an emergency coastguard flare.

'Thinking that there may be a seaside rescue about to start, I instinctively got the camera gear out of the boot of the car. At this point, it became clear to me that it was not a flare as the light began to move towards me, so I got a few shots as it went by.

'It was a calm clear night, with only a gentle breeze but this thing was moving at a good speed and also climbing its way up into the night sky.

'It was orange and it looked like it was on fire. I can"t say for sure what it was, but I can definitely say that it was not a conventional aircraft or a rescue flare.'

And the Saltcoats resident believes it could be the same light spotted eight months ago. He added: 'The light does seem to match the description of previous UFO reports around the area, although this time it was only a single light.

'I am not sure if this was a Chinese Lantern as there was only one light this time. It would be a bit strange to just set off one.'

A spokeswoman for Clyde Coastguard said: 'We have no log of any incidents happening in the area on the night and there was no training exercises taking place. It is unlikely that this light was a flare but it could be possible.'
