NO OLD PALS ACT
By Stewart McConnell
CONFIDENT KILWINNING RANGERS boss Alan McTurk is positively relishing the biggest game in his two-year managerial reign with Buffs facing KILBIRNIE LADESIDE at Valefield Park on Saturday requiring a win to clinch automatic promotion back to the Stagecoach Super League Premier Division.
The Abbey Parkers on Saturday suffered their first defeat in 17 Super First Division games, surprisingly going down 4-1 to Clydebank just four days after thrashing champions Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 6-2.
McTurk, however, is relieved that their destiny is still in their own hands although he knows it will be no pushover against a side bossed by former team mate Tommy Bryce.
He told Sportscene: “It was a disappointing result although I felt we could have been 3-0 up at half-time. But I was surprised we had a goal chalked off just after Clydebank’s equaliser early in the second half for what the referee said was an infringement on their goalkeeper by James Tyler although James said he was the one who was impeded. But I also felt we tired a bit in the second half, we have had a lot of games and that was a factor.
