BOTH sides should be commended for their efforts in producing a very entertaining contest despite unrelenting wind and rain, in one of the few fixtures to survive the weather.

Cumnock opened strongly and the visitors went close, but it was Beith who gradually grabbed more control in midfield. As they continued to press, they were awarded a penalty in the 34th minute. A Kenny McLean attempt was saved, but Beith weren't denied for long and Andy Reid lashed a fierce shot into the net.

Cumnock evened the score following a dubious free kick, but following a determined spell, Beith got the break they deserved as McLean atoned for his penalty miss to beat Potter with a great shot. They completed their triumph with a header from substitute Lee McShane.
