KILBIRNIE continued their defence of the New Coin Automatics West of Scotland Cup which they won so impressively last season with a hard-fought victory against Irvine Victoria's conquerors in a Second Round tie.
The game was in doubt right up to kick-off and the heavy rain continued well into the first half, making the pitch sodden and not conducive to good football.
Despite the conditions and the narrow scoreline this wasa thoroughly entertaining game with both sides produding a good number of scoring opportunities that they continued to pass up.
