Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull(12A)

Starring Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen and Shia La Beouf.

Its been a long wait, nineteen years to be exact but finally everyones favourite archaeologist is back.

There has been much debate as to whether George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were right to resurrect one of the most popular franchises in movie history but what is certain is that fans of the terrific original trilogy will be flocking to the cinema in huge numbers in eager anticipation of this latest installment. However it is inevitable that this entry in the series will be closely compared to the excellence of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade in particular which means that expectations are very high.

The film premiered in Cannes at the weekend and received somewhat mixed reviews but ultimately it is the movie-going public that will decide how successful it will be; it does seem sure that it will be a huge box office hit. In the lead-up to the premiere, Spielberg and the producers went to great lengths to ensure the plot remained a secret, we now know that is it set in the 50's with Jones battling Russian villains aided by a young side-kick, Williams(LaBeouf), in a search for the mysterious crystal skulls. Karen Allen reprises the role of Marion Ravenwood, Jones' feisty love interest from Raiders and established British actors John Hurt and Jim Broadbent also feature.

Cassandra's Dream(12A)

Starring Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell and Tom Wilkinson.

In this crime drama from director Woody Allen, McGregor and Farrell play two brothers, Ian and Tery, living in London's East End, both of whom are enduring financial struggles. Their situation deteriorates even further when Terry loses all their money betting on greyhound racing. They decide to ask their Uncle Howard, played by Wilkinson, for help in easing their financial burden.

However they discover that Howard's prosperity is the result of several rather shady deals which are currently being investigated. He insists that Ian and Terry must be prepared to kill a business associate threatening to uncover Howard's illegal business ways in exchange for him giving them the money they desperately need. The two brothers react very differently to the proposition and the film shows how their previously close relationship suffers greatly as a result of their different moral perspectives.
