COUNCILLORS decided last week to change a street name in Beith as concerns were apparently raised by residents about emergency services being "hampered" in attending any incidents.
William Tricker Crescent is a residential street off Barmill Road but is apparently known to most residents as Lochlands Grove. The Garnock Valley and West Kilbride Area Committee decided on Thursday last week to allow for the name to be changed officially to Lochlands Grove, which will see North Ayrshire Council footing the bill for changing the street nameplates. This, NAC say, "can be met from the existing budget." Additional costs will also be incurred by NAC for advertising the proposed change in the local press because the street was originally named after an individual and either that individual or their descendants may still live in the area.
