THESE young footballers from the Three Towns are pictured posing for a team shot just after the end of the Second World War.

One of our readers sent this photo which consists of ICI workers. In the late 1940s ICI started day continuation classes for 16 to 18-year-old employees to go to the Ardeer Recreation Club.

This started as a half day but changed to a full day after the second year. Classes were taught in reading, writing and arithmetic in the morning and after lunch there was woodwork and football sessions. Pictured above is one of the football teams, and James Magness can be seen sitting in the centre of the front row with the ball at his feet.
