IT HAS been all go for rugby in the Garnock Valley as the local children embrace the sport through their schools and the local club.
On September 26, representatives from the Garnock Rugby Club Micros (P1-3), P5, 6, 7, S1 and S2 attended the Glasgow Warriors game against Connacht where they formed part of the guard of honour.
Coach Paul Brindley said that the boys loved representing the club and helping the Warriors prepare to win.
The cluster primary schools in the Garnock Valley also had a P7 Rugby Festival with teams from Glengarnock Primary, Beith Primary, Moorpark Primary, Gateside Primary, St Palladius Primary and St Bridgets Primary all participating.
Garnock Rugby Development Officer, Gavin Blackburn, said: “We had over 95 kids participating with some excellent rugby skills on display, some of the footwork and handling skills were terrific.
“All schools had several games with the final being played between Beith Primary and St Palladius Primary with Beith Primary winning two tries to nil.
“We urge all kids interested in playing rugby to come to Garnock Rugby Club at Lochshore on a wednesday night from 7-8pm.”
