BRITISH Transport Police is appealing for information after a man brandished a knife at a group of teenagers in a threatening manner while they waited for a train to Largs at Ardrossan South Beach station on Friday, November 21.

The eight children – aged between 13 and 15 years – ran from the station and no-one was in injured.

The incident happened around 10.30pm and the man believed to be responsible was wearing a grey hooded top, grey jogging trousers, a black sleeveless tank top style sweater and white trainers.

He was seen to leave the station with another man who was wearing a white and blue track suit top, blue jogging trousers with white stripes and black and white trainers.

Detective Constable Javwaad Rai, the BTP officer in charge of the inquiry, is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

He said: “This was a frightening experience for all the young people involved and I am anxious to speak with anyone who was at the station and can help identify the man responsible to come forward.” CCTV from the station will be reviewed as part of the inquiry British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
