LOCAL members of Royal British Legion Scotland met up with comedian Jim Davidson after his recent appearance in Ayr.

The group held a draw at a fundraising dinner dance with a prize of a meal for two in Ayr plus accommodation (donated by Chestnuts Hotel, Racecourse Road) plus tickets to see the Jim Davidson Show and meet the star.

The lucky winners were John and Ellen Watt from Ardrossan who are pictured with Three Towns Legion member Paul Coffey and his wife.

Paul has been raising the Three Towns profile in a number of ways in the year of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War 1.

As well as organising the dinner dance, he helped persuade Dobbies Garden Centres to donate poppy seeds to schools nationally.

Other prizes from the dance draw included a signed print of Ailsa Craig, a miniature collectable curling stone from Ailsa Craig with whisky inside, and on the night Lord Ailsa donated a family ticket to visit Culzean Castle.

At his show in Ayr, Paul gifted Jim Davidson a jacket of the kind worn during Remembrance Sunday parades.

Paul has also agreed to help with ‘Care after Combat’ a new charity being set up by Jim and Simon Weston, the Falklands Veteran.
