ONE ARDROSSAN Primary School has passed its latest inspection with flying ccolours, with the HMI being very impressed with various aspects of school life.

Stanley Primary School on Dalry Road in the town recently paid host to Education Scotland as they critiqued every little detail from nursery right through to primary school leavers and the school can be proud of what they have achieved.

In a report published just this week, a number of key strengths were highlighted.

They were: Courteous, happy, enthusiastic and friendly children who are proud of their school; Children learning in a very bright, caring and inclusive environment and the school’s profile in the local community; The wide range of opportunities for personal achievement and experiences which motivate children and partnership working and support for vulnerable children and their families.

The report looks at how well the children in the school learn and achieve as well how well the school supports the children and helps them to develop and learn.

In both of these sections, the school came out very satisfactorily, with comments on the report including ‘Across the nursery and primary stages, children are developing their confidence well. In the nursery, the majority make appropriate progress in early literacy and early numeracy.’ and ‘Children are happy, friendly and very proud of their school.

The learning environment is nurturing, inclusive and children feel safe, well looked after and enjoy coming to the nursery and to the school.’ As with every inspection there is never going to be a 100 per cent perfect report and the inspectors have spoken with North Ayrshire Council over three areas in which they can improve which are: Continue to improve the tracking and monitoring of children’s progress to raise their attainment in numeracy, literacy, and health and wellbeing; Continue to develop the curriculum with a clear focus on children’s progress and ensure appropriate pace and challenge through the motivating learning experiences.

A spokesperson from Education Scotland and the HMI said: "“We are satisfied with the overall quality of provision. We are confident that the school’s self-evaluation processes are leading to improvements." “As a result, we will make no further visits in connection with this inspection.” Councillor John Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education and Youth Employment, said: "“This is a positive report which highlights how pupils are benefiting from a wide range of motivating opportunities and experiences and that there are examples of strong partnership working with children and their families.

“"I was also pleased to hear that the inspection not only found that the children enjoy coming to school, but are happy, confident, and proud of their learning environment."”
