PRACTICAL work to renew and repair Portencross Castle has begun this week - and will hopefully see the 14th-Century landmark restored and open to the public.
Supporters from Friends of Portencross Castle have been working hard to raise cash for the much-needed project and finally their efforts have paid off.
Secretary for the group Ann McLauchlan is delighted that the work has started and said: 'This building has been locked and closed to the public for longer than anyone can remember.
