THE Scottish Conservative party have announced their candidate for the Cunninghame South seat.

William McClure has been chosen by the area’s Conservative and Unionist party members to stand for the Cunninghame South seat at next year’s Scottish Parliament elections. Mr McClure was chosen after a hard fought contest between several candidates. The committee made the decision due to the “enthusiasm” and “vigour” which they believe William showed and that the electorate would identify with him. He did however admit that he hadn’t always been a supporter of the party and that he had previously voted for Labour and the LibDems. Mr McClure, who will battle it out with Ruth Maguire and Joe Cullinane for the seat which covers Stevenston and Kilwinning, said: “I have no problems with my previous voting history. In fact, I actively encourage everyone to engage in a liberating experience. Take a look at the policy documents of all the main parties and you will find the only party which stands up for Scotland is the Conservative and Unionist Party. “Examine some of the key policies of this election. The economy, where SNP and Labour appear to support the idea of borrowing our way out of debt. “If you look at the opposition policies and base your vote on that, the Conservative and Unionist Party in Cunninghame South will record a historic result which will resound around Scotland and the United Kingdom. Most importantly, you can trust me to stand up for the people of Cunninghame South. I believe in fairness, a strong economy and valid drug policy for Scotland. “Your vote cannot be based solely on the past. I urge you to look at your own conscience and, based on the facts, decide which party truly represents the views of the people of Scotland.”
