ONE lucky local tot was the star of the show when she pushed the button to set off the fireworks at Saltcoats Harbour on Sunday evening.

Little Summer Corbett, who turns two next March, was at the event with her dad Craig and mum Jade after organiser Jim Montgomerie got in touch to offer the family the chance to kick things off.

This came after posted a reminder of the night on the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald Twitter page on Tuesday and Craig commented to say it was a bit short notice but he didn't realise it was organised by Jim on his own and the organiser wanted to make sure the family had a good night and got in touch with Summer's dad to get something organised.

Craig said: "We would just like to thank Jim for all his efforts that he puts in to organising and funding the Fireworks as I'm sure everyone truly appreciates and enjoys.

"We also want to thank him for allowing Summer to have such a brilliant opportunity and creating a fantastic memory that we all got to share and be a part of.

"Summer really enjoyed the display and now keeps looking to the sky, shouting "BANG!"

Jim said: "I would like to thank everyone for coming to the Saltcoats Firework Display. I have been doing this now for a number of years now and the weather was probably the best I have ever had for the display.

"I would like to thank little Summer and her family. Summer pressed the button for the display to begin and the look on her face was priceless when the fireworks began, that is what it is all about.

"I would also like to pass on a big thank you to to the Coastguard for their appearance and a special thank you to the police for all their help, especially behind the scenes on the day.

"A big thanks also goes to the 1st Saltcoats Boys Brigade as well as the publicans who as always support me in whatever I do for the community."
