PUPILS of Troon Primary school managed to grab themselves a day off after part of the ceiling in the atrium of the school came down.
The school was closed today, November 10 for health and safety issues as heavy rain over the last few days had caused damage to the ceiling. Water had spread into a number of classrooms.
Douglas Hutchison, Director Educational Services, said: “Our main concern is the safety of pupils and staff but we anticipate that the school will reopen.
“The atrium area and two adjacent classrooms are likely to remain out of use but the nursery class is in a separate building and will remain open.”
Procedures were carried out to ensure that all the first floor rooms were safe. The school initiated emergency operations and parents were contacted by text to let them know that the school was closed.
