LAST WEEK finished with a bang in Ardrossan as the Whitlees Centre’s very first firework display dazzled the crowds of locals.

On Friday evening, hordes of residents from the local area donned their wellies, hats and scarves and headed for the centre for an evening of fun and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Donna Doherty, of the Whitlees Centre, said: “This was Ardrossan’s very first fireworks display and it went fantastic.

“Unfortunately we had to start the display 12 minutes earlier than advertised due to the change of weather which was out of our hands.

“The feedback has been amazing and all the adults and kids who attended had a great night.

“Hopefully we, the Ardrossan Community Association at the Whitlees centre will keep getting the support of our community and make the Ardrossan Bonfire and Fireworks Display an annual event.

“We would like to thank Mr Pat Breen and his staff for all their help, Edward Gibb and Charlie’s bar football team, the Ardrossan Winton flute band, Alan Petigrew and the Ardrossan Highland Games for their help setting up and stewarding on the night.

“A big thanks to our committee who work very hard and give up their time to make these events possible, but most of the community of Ardrossan who have supported us from day one and their continued support is very much appreciated.

“Thanks also go to 10cc for a fabulous fireworks display and Robert Davies and friends for the rides for the children.”
