STORM Gertrude continues to batter the Ayrshire coast with high winds, driving rain and major disruption to travel in the local area.

The latest winter storm to hit Scotland struck in the early hours of this morning with reports of a number of trees falling on to roads across North Ayrshire as well as warnings for snow and wind in the local area coming from the Met Office.

High tide is yet to hit the Saltcoats train line this afternoon but trains continue to be affected with services disrupted between Ardrossan Harbour, Ardrossan South Beach and Largs and Kilwinning. Updates are continuing throughout the day and you can find the latest here.

Those wishing to travel over to Arran may have to wait until the worst of the weather has passed with services already being cancelled between Ardrossan and Brodick. The Largs to Cumbrae service is also on amber alert with short notice cancellations possible. For the latest, click here.
