STORM Henry is about to hit the West Coast of Scotland with gale force winds set to cause even more havoc with the transport systems across North Ayrshire.

Hot on the heels of Storm Gertrude, Henry could again see a trail of destruction with winds of up to 90mph predicted to hit from 3pm this afternoon.

Scotrail have already confirmed that trains running from Largs, Ardrossan Harbour and Ardrossan South Beach will be terminated at Kilwinning from 2pm until the close of play today (Monday) with Calmac Services between Ardrossan and Brodick being largely disrupted with the cancellation of the first four services and others expected to follow as the weather worsens.

Weather experts are warning that structural damage may be possible as well as possible disruption to power supplies as the wind hits. Coupled with waves that are due to hit at high tide, this could cause localised flooding and residents are asked to be vigilant and take care at all times if they are out and about.

Drivers are asked to ensure all necessary precautions are taken and to allow extra times for their journey during the peak hours of the storm later on this afternoon.
