A SALTCOATS hairdresser has won a professional course worth over £800 at the Vidal Sassoon London Academy.

Diane Quinn, pictured, who works at Jennifer Reeves Salon in Hamilton Street, was over the moon when she found out she had scooped the top prize in the academy’s 12 Days of Sparkle and Shine competition.

She told the Herald: “I’m absolutely delighted because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do but these courses are a lot of money – you’re talking about £1,000 for some of them for a week.

“It will enhance my career because they say it’s Vidal Sassoon’s way of cutting so I can’t wait for this opportunity.”

Throughout December, Vidal Sassoon Academy’s Facebook invited people to ‘like’ and ‘share’ a different picture every day over 12 days for the chance to win a selection of hair goodies.

Prizes included Sassoon Academy DVDs, brushes and combs, scissors and other salon essentials. But the main item was the chance to go on one of the academy’s five-day courses.

Diane was shocked to find out a few weeks later that she had won.

The 37-year-old chose the Academy’s Trilogy Cutting Diploma, which is aimed at hair professionals with existing technical knowledge who wish to experience Sassoon cutting education at every level.

Diane said: “I go in October and I’m really excited.”

A spokeswoman from Vidal Sassoon said: “A huge congratulations to Diane.

“We look forward to welcoming her at the London Academy later this year.”
