AN ARDROSSAN sheltered housing complex is to undergo an almost £500,000 refurbishment, North Ayrshire Council announced this week.
George Aitken Court will undergo an extensive £440,000 modernisation programme after North Ayrshire Council’s Cabinet awarded the contract to James Frew Ltd.
The upgrade is part of the Council’s ongoing Sheltered Housing Programme, which aims to provide high-quality accommodation for older people.
A total of £440,000 will be spent upgrading the 22-unit complex, providing a modern, fresh environment for the residents.
The work on George Aitken Court, which is expected to begin next month, includes the redecoration of the communal areas and new carpets throughout.
In addition, a visiting services room and mobility scooter store will be developed as part of the project.
Residents’ bathrooms are also being refurbished, providing accessible wet floor shower rooms which promote independent living.
Housing Services received very positive feedback from their consultation with residents as part of the project.
Officers revealed that the work on George Aitken Court is expected to be completed in July.
