Train services across North Ayrshire have been disrupted this morning due to damage to overhead wires between Kilwinning and Johnstone.

Services between Largs, Ardrossan Harbour and Ardrossan South Beach and Glasgow are expected to be delayed, cancelled or suspended at short notice due to this issue.

There is two trains per hour currently running between Glasgow Central and Ayr, departing on the hour and at half past the hour. Passengers wishing to travel to North Ayrshire are being advised to travel on these trains and disembark at Kilwinning where they can meet shuttle services to the Three Towns and beyond.

This disruption comes as the latest in the long line of winter storms is due to hit the UK with Storm Imogen expected to hit this afternoon but with the majority of the inital storm to hit southern England.

Calmac services between Ardrossan and Brodick are currently running to service after severe disruption over the last two days.

Updates will be provided as and when they are required on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
