THIS year marks the 30th anniversary of Eglinton becoming a designated country park.
And Eglinton Country Park’s dedicated staff celebrated the major milestone in glorious sunshine last week.
While the site – which takes its name from the Lords of Eglinton who held tenure from 1080 to 1350 – has a long and varied history, it was only granted full country park status in 1986.
And 30 years on, the Kilwinning park has become a haven for dog walkers, community groups, families, runners and, frankly, anybody who enjoys the great outdoors.
Park Manager Cameron Sharp said: “It’s been an amazing 30 years. We are very fortunate to have a place like Eglinton Park in North Ayrshire.
Provost Joan Sturgeon said: “Eglinton Park means an awful lot to so many people.
“It is a fantastic place and we’re lucky to have it on our doorstep. I’m sure it will continue to thrive and be a place for people to treasure and enjoy for many more years to come.”
