AN Ardrossan schoolgirl has raised over £300 after she had hair chopped off for charity.

10-year-old Chenai Gilston, who is a primary six pupil at St Peter’s Primary, decided to get almost 12 inches of her long locks cut off and send off to the Little Princess’ Trust so that others could get use of it after it was made into a wig.

Chenai’s mum, Donna, said that she had stumbled across the charity and that her daughter wanted to donate her hair to people who are unable to grown their own.

Donna said: “We’ve had donations from family and friends all over the local area, including family in Canada and Ireland and she has had loads of recognition at school.

“I’m absolutely so proud of her, it was a huge deal for her, I’m still bursting with pride now. She even got a certificate through from the Little Princess Trust thanking her.”

Chenai raised a total of £305.58 for the charity and her hair was cut by Alana White, a local hairdresser.
