Woman killed after she was struck by a train in Stevenston
A WOMAN has died after she was struck by a train near to Stevenston station on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the incident shortly after 5.15pm on Saturday, May 14 with police, fire service and ambulance personnel at the scene.
Train services between Largs and Ardrossan Harbour and Kilwinning for a short period as a result.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said; "At 5.15pm on Saturday, May 14, a woman in her 50s was struck by a train at Stevenston. She suffered serious injuries and was then taken to Crosshouse Hospital where she later died.
"There is no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
