A STEVENSTON gym is calling on the people of the Three Towns to help make their dream become a reality.

Glencairn Bodybuilding and Fitness Club has just six months until planning permission runs out on their proposed extension to their cardio suite and they need your help to bring it to life.

The club was started way back in 1975 when a small band of weightlifters and bodybuilding enthusiasts got together and found a place where they could train, get together and share their passion for health and fitness.

Expansion has been testament to the hard work and dedication of those involved with the club and in 2011 Glencairn entered a year-on-year lease agreement with North Ayrshire Council at the old school gymnasium near to Glencairn Primary and the relationship continues to flourish five years later.

The club has £20,000 saved and are willing to part with this in order to get the extension finished but they need the help of locals to get it done.

And there will be brilliant incentives for anyone who can offer a donation or some of their time to help out. The club are promising free gym membership for life and free instruction on the machines. There will also be the opportunity for free advertising for any businesses who chip in to make it a success.

Whether you are a tradesmen, builders merchant or just a local who wants to help out, the club are very keen to have you on board. Any cash donations are warmly welcomed and the building work will be overseen by the very experienced Jim Brannan of JB Brickwork.

With a membership of almost 450, the club is in the heart of the Stevenston community and they believe that they can bring the world of health fitness to the next generation with this extension being key to their continued growth.

They are keen to get the message of healthy living across and this can only be done with expansion of the availability of cardiovascular exercises and the area.
