A NEW Kilwinning restaurant development has been given the green light after receiving approval from licensing chiefs.

As revealed earlier this year, Buzzworks Holdings - an award winning hospitality group - put plans in place to open a new bar and restaurant, The Corner House, on the former site of the Stag and Hound pub.

The owners of Buzzworks, brothers Colin and Kenny Blair, wanted to open the new venue in their hometown, after starting their family business 38 years ago in the area.

The Corner House will offer all day eating and drinking in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Its swanky restaurant will have over 100 seats, as well an as intimate private dining room for up to 20 guests.

The venue will also feature Buzzworks take on a traditional bar – cosy and welcoming but with a contemporary twist.

The menu will be very similar to their most recently opened venue – The Mill House in Stewarton – focussing on simple dishes with big flavours.
Colin spoke previously about his excitement ahead of the opening, revealing: “We’re really excited about The Corner House.

“It will be a stunning venue – beautifully designed, cosy and comfortable and welcoming to all.

“We are sure it will be a great addition to the town and one that we can all be proud of.”

The £750,000 investment will create 40 new jobs and add to the already near 400 staff employed by the company across Ayrshire, with other venues already in place including Scotts in Largs and Troon Yacht Havens, Elliots in Prestwick, Lido in Troon and Prestwick, The Longhouse in Kilmarnock, Treehouse in Ayr and the Mill House in Stewarton.

Licensing Board chair Councillor Ian Clarkson, said: “The Licence was granted as per the application. Extra hours at Christmas and New Year was removed from the final application by Buzzworks, as North Ayrshire has a policy which covers festive opening”.
