THOSE who know me are well aware that I have absolutely no patience.

If I can’t do something perfect first time, I’ll struggle to find the motivation to keep going.

But that mentality has went out the window during my training for the North Ayrshire Athletics Club 10k.

I’ve been out of shape for most of this year but I still have some semblance of fitness.

Naturally, I thought I’d be in for a nice leisurely stroll during my first session at Hybrid 7 Fitness in Irvine’s Kyle Road.

But I certainly got a shock, I was aching all over and practically dead on my feet after an hour.

Since then, however, I’ve felt stronger after every session with trainer Barry Grove utilising an excellent mix of strength and cardio circuits to get us into tip top shape.

I occasionally go out for a run on some Saturdays but I’ve never timed myself or thought about distance - I normally run until I’m ready to collapse!

But myself and my Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald colleague Paul Fisher are right in the swing of it now as we gear up to try and run the 10k in under an hour.

I’m certainly not going to tell you all how you should be exercising and what you should be eating.

But let me tell you that if you want to get fit but are lacking in confidence then Hybrid 7 Fitness will see you right.

We’re already seeing and feeling the difference after just a handful of sessions. If you are already fighting fit, then why not get involved with September 4’s 10k run.
