HEALTH chiefs have reported that more than 150 venues have signed up to their breastfeeding scheme, including the Rivergate Shopping Centre in Irvine.

All NHS Ayrshire & Arran buildings, local authority offices and public transport buildings have signed up, as well as various cafes, restaurants, libraries, nurseries and opticians.

Recently, the Rivergate Shopping Centre and Niche Restaurant in Irvine, and John Knox Church in Stewarton have

all agreed to display their stickers.

The campaign is a way to make sure that business owners, employees and members of the public are aware of the Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005, which means that it is illegal to stop a mother feeding her baby breast or formula milk in premises where the public has general access.

If you would like to find out which venues have signed up to the Breastfeed happily here campaign, or you are a

business owner who would like to display a sticker, please email ayrshire@breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk.
