A MAN has been found dead at a property in Stevenston, police have confirmed.
Police and other emergency services attended at a flat in the town's Hayocks Road on Sunday morning where a man was pronounced dead.
Sources told the Herald that police, including forensic teams, were on the scene for most of the day.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "At 9.55am on Sunday, September 18, police and emergency services responded to a report that a man had died within a property in Hayocks Road, Stevenston.
"Upon arrival, a 43-year-old man was prounounced dead at the scene and relatives were informed.
"A post-mortem examination will take place to established the cause of death and it is currently being treated as unexplained.
"A report will be send to the Procurator Fiscal."
