THE campaign to get a statue of Bobby Lennox in Saltcoats has been taken to the next level - with a crowdfunder being launched.

And their plan to try and raise £10,000 in the first instance in order to make their dream become a reality.

With the campaign not even being a month old, things have moved quickly and the cause has even been featured in Celtic’s weekly magazine, the Celtic View.

The foursome who are behind the campaign are also planning a number of fundraising nights and will be collecting at Celtic Park next week at their Champions League match against Manchester City.

Mark McClure of the group said: “We have started the Crowdfunder and are planning a bucket collection at Celtic Park on Wednesday, September 28, this is the night Celtic are playing Manchester City.

“We have also spoken to Caroline McKenna at St Mary’s and she is quite keen to let us have an event at the Chapel Hall in November.

“Dean has also spoken live on air to Gerry McCulloch who hosts Superscoreboard we are also still talking to Celtic directly and we also appeared in the club’s magazine, the Celtic View.”
