THE Isle of Cumbrae RBLS Pipe Band enjoyed the distinction of attending and performing before HM the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Princess Royal at this year’s Braemar gathering.

As all bands appearing must receive an Invitation from the Games Committee the bands men and women were thrilled to appear and responded in numbers with 20 pipers and 10 drummers making the journey to ensure that Ayrshire and Cumbrae were properly represented.

The band participated in the parade of the Massed Bands through the village and into the arena before giving their own characteristic arena performance within the Games stadium and at the International Pavilion. The day finished with the traditional march back through the village from the Gathering field.

The band have been invited to reappear next year for internationally renowned event, which has enjoyed royal patronage since the reign of Queen Victoria and attracts tens of thousands.
