A STEVENSTON dad who lost both his mum and close friend to suicide has raised £276 by cycling around Arran in their memory.
As the Herald reported previously, Anthony Boyd lost his 19-year-old mum Lesley in 1987 when he was just a few months old.
More tragedy struck for the 29-year-old earlier this year when his friend, 31-year-old John Conaghan from Irvine, also took his own life.
In honour of Lesley and John, Anthony cycled round Arran in support of PAPYRUS, a charity which raises awareness of preventing young suicide.
Anthony, a dad of two, said after his cycle: “I could have given up towards the end, but I started at 8am and was back to Brodick at about 1.40pm.
“I could hardly walk, my legs were numb!
“The total amount made was £276 exactly.
“I wish it was more but every penny donated is appreciated.”
