TWO people were rescued by the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team last week following reports of a broken down yacht between Ardrossan and Arran.
The team were called during the afternoon of Thursday, October 13 and responded immediately with Troon All Weather Lifeboat being launched to come to the assistance of the vessel.
The 42ft yacht had suffered engine trouble and, given the wind conditions, would be unable to attempt to sail to the safety of Ardrossan Harbour and Clyde Marina.
Troon Lifeboat successfully took the stricken yacht under tow and proceeded towards Ardrossan Harbour.
Clyde Marina’s own boat took over the tow at the Harbour and brought the vessel alongside within the marina.
There, team members and crew of Troon Lifeboat were on hand to assist.
With the casualty vessel secured at the marina and everyone safe and well, the team returned to the station to provide a full update to CGOC Belfast.
