POLICE in North Ayrshire are continuing their search after the attempted murder of a man in Beith.

Officers are continuing enquiries and appealing for witnesses after the attempted murder of a 44-year-old in the town, which was yesterday (Monday) treated as a serious assault.

Early on Monday morning, the 44-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital after being found injured on Eglinton Street outside the Saracen's Head Hotel. He has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is being treated for a serious head injury. 

Detective Inspector William McDicken of Saltcoats Police Office said: “Our enquiries are continuing today to trace whoever is responsible for assaulting the 44-year-old man outside the Saracen's Head Hotel in Eglinton Street, Beith around 12.05am on Monday, October 24. Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries in the local area. 

“Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this assault take place, or who was in the area at the time and has information that may assist our investigation to contact detectives at Saltcoats Police Office through 101. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
