LOCAL swimming sensation Danielle Joyce picked up another prestigious gong to add to her long list of prizes.

Danielle, although still only 20 has already achieved so much, and continues to inspire as she picked up her latest award at the Deaf Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2016, held in the Emirates Stadium in London recently.

Danielle, who is from Stevenston, received her trophy as runner-up in the top award category following on from winning the Youth award in 2014 in the Bi-Annual event.

Danii was absolutely thrilled as last week she had also been informed she had been voted third in the World for Deaf Sportswoman of 2015 by the International Committee for Sport for the Deaf (ICSD).

In an amazing week and fresh from her recent award as North Ayrshire’s Community Sports Personality of the Year, Danielle has been selected to represent GB at next year’s Deaflympics to be held in Turkey.

Being deaf, Danielle has to fund herself despite the Deaflympics being the second oldest world games after the Olympics themselves so Danielle needs the support of family, friends and the community to help her achieve this and you can help her by donating on her just giving page where you can read more about her achievements and read her story - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/danii-joyce
