DALRY dad Brian McGrath has retired from being a retained firefighter after 32 years.

For Brian’s retirement, the 55-year-old’s colleagues past and present took part in a presentation at Dalry Fire Station.

Brian, who works at DSM, told the Herald that he was looking forward to leading “a normal life”.

But he admitted that not seeing his colleagues every day would take a bit more getting used to in the weeks to come.

The dad of two said: “It’s a bit of a struggle – I am going to miss everyone – but you’ve got to move on.

“I’ll miss everybody but I’ll enjoy the relaxation.
“It takes up an awful lot of your time. “

He added: “When I do a night shift at DSM now, at least when I go home I know I’m going to my bed!”

Congratulations to Brian from all at the Herald.
