AN ARDROSSAN mum, who regularly saw a physiotherapist for a painful condition, has not needed treatment in six months after losing almost half her body weight.

Weighing more than 14 stone and fitting a dress size 20-22, Allanna Lundy suffered from joint pain because of her weight.

The 27-year-old also developed SPD, a painful condition of the pelvis which manifests in pregnancy.

But since joining an Ardrossan Slimming World class in August last year, Allanna has dropped a whopping 5st and 8 ½ lbs, taking the young mum to a healthy size 12.

Allanna told the Herald: “It’s made my life easier. I’ve got three young kids at seven, three and one so you don’t get a chance to sit down.

“Life’s so much better since losing all the weight – my wellbeing, my mood, just everything. It’s fantastic.

“I used to have back pain and joint pain. It was all the weight and being pregnant that caused it. When I was having my son I developed SPD and it continued on from that.

“I used to see a physiotherapist, which I saw privately because it was too long to wait on the NHS. I no longer have to see the physiotherapist – I haven’t seen them for about six months. It’s saved me £30 a month!”

Allanna’s journey was recognised by her slimming class when she was nominated last month for Women of the Year.

Although she didn’t win the regional championships, the mum of three is still positive and is keen to offer advice to others trying to shift weight.

She said: “Do it for yourself and not because someone else wants you to.

“I’d say definitely join a group because of the boost you get, the inspiration and the support. When I first started, a woman in the class was saying how she had lost four and a half stone nd I remember thinking I could never do that – but you can do it.

“I hardly did any exercise apart from walking more. I just put the kids in the pram and walked.

“I do cook for the family but I was doing it the wrong way.

“I used to cook with a lot of oils and I never used to trim the fat off of meats.

“I just adapt how I cook now. The family still get the usual – their mince and tatties and stuff – but it’s just done more healthily.”
