KIDS from a Kilwinning primary school showed they have the best maths minds in North Ayrshire - after winning a special online challenge.

Last week, talented P7b pupils from Whitehirst Park Primary School were presented with their trophy. Pupils across North Ayrshire had to answer up to 1,000 maths questions over a one week period.

More than 1,931 pupils from 83 classes took part in the competition which was organised by Edinburgh company Sumdog.

And it was Whitehirst Park who clinched the trophy with a score of 805 points - edging nearest rivals Dreghorn Primary School’s P3b class by 104 points.

P7b Teacher Louise Johnstone said: “The pupils all worked really hard on this competition and enjoyed working together as a class.”

Councillor John Bell, Cabinet Member Education and Youth Employment, added: “Huge congratulations to Whitehirst Park’s P7b class.”
