A MEMORIAL bench and plaque in honour of a much-loved Garnock Valley resident has been unveiled.
Margaret Montgomery, who passed away in July 2016, often liked to sit on the bench outside Barrmill Community Centre.
Friends donated money to Barrmill and District Community Association to have the bench upgraded with a memorial plaque.
A small ceremony was held outside the Community Centre, where former Beith correspondent Donald Reid gave a dedication to Margaret before Councillor Robert Barr unveiled the new bench.
Jean Gilbert, chairperson of Barrmill and District Community Association, said: “Thanks go to Donald Reid who stepped in at the last minute and did a dedication to Margaret and to Deputy Provost Robert Barr who unveiled the bench. Many thanks to everybody who put a donation in and to Margaret’s friends who all helped towards this, especially Marien Kennedy and the Happy Chappers.”
